| Hey Guys, Anyone know of any good auto machine shops around central new jersey? Need to get my block inspected/clean/bored/honed out for my new wiseco forged pistons. Crank inspected and polished, then everything balanced. Also thinking about getting my cylinder heads surfaced, valves reground, seats cut (3 angle). So far I have gotten three quotes from different shops.
Eddies Performance:
To bore/hone the block is $230.00.
To clean the block is $125.00. The valve job-resurface on the pair of heads is $450.00, plus any parts that may be needed. To balance the rotating assembly is $200.00.
Headmaster, Inc.:
magnaflux & jetwash = $95
bore & hone cylinders = $35 each cylinder polish the crankshaft is $50 rebalance crankshaft with pistons = $350 remanufactured cylinder heads = $350
Promar Engine:
$225 Clean, Mag and Prep Block
$240 Bore and Hone Block $125 Deck Block $75 Clean and Polish Crankshaft $135 Clean, Grind and Polish Crankshaft $699 Rebuild Head Plus Parts (price is per head) $300-$400 Engine Balancing
Do these prices seem fair (yes I know the workmanship and shop rep has a big part in it, but I also don't like getting ripped off)?
